As a sailor on the Damage Control Team aboard the USS Midway, Joe’s life changed forever after an explosion in 1990 left him with severe burns over 32% of his body and permanent lung damage from smoke and fire.

Leaving his hometown of Orange, Texas shortly after high school, he joined the Silent Service, embarking on a journey that took him around the world and imparted invaluable lessons along the way
