Throughout our Flags for Heroes campaign, we've had the privilege of learning about the incredible veterans who have served our country with courage and dedication. These stories, filled with sacrifice and resilience, serve as a powerful reminder of the true meaning of patriotism.
We’re honored to share the story of Michael Thompson, a dedicated Coast Guard service member who has served across roles in fisheries enforcement, tactical operations, and emergency management.
Story submitted by Kelly Maher “I was a USSS Special Agent for 10 years when I met my husband during the 2012 campaign. Realizing that his service and mine would not accommodate my staying in—we chose the USCG for our family (I left in early 2016) I’m so proud of him supporting us in all the things he has done from his enlisted to officer time in fisheries enforcement, tactical coxswain, and emergency management representing the USCG.He chose country over so many other easier careers out there. The sacrifices a military family makes are often ignored especially their spouses and spouse employment. My husband has been a huge advocate on my round two in life transitioning to the civilian world. His support for his family, country, and his spouse (and others) is unwavering."
Thank you, Michael, for your honorable service, sacrifice, and dedication.
