Throughout our Flags for Heroes campaign, we've had the privilege of learning about the incredible veterans who have served our country with courage and dedication. These stories, filled with sacrifice and resilience, serve as a powerful reminder of the true meaning of patriotism.
We are proud to share the story of James Fosse, a man whose dedication to his country and family has spanned decades and touched countless lives.
Story submitted by Katie Wilson “My great Uncle Jim served in the Air Force as a switchboard operator from 1952-1955. He is still so active today with the VFW and marches in parades with the color guard and also plays Taps at veterans funerals. He just turned 90 this year and he is the most humble and dedicated man I’ve ever known my entire life! I did not have the greatest childhood and when we found my uncle when I was 6, he took us in and took the role of a grandpa for me! He still works very hard on his farm house in Wisconsin and does everything he can, to help the River Falls VFW. He’s the best friend, grandpa, uncle, brother, and father that anyone could ever have and he is loved so very much by all of us! I feel like he doesn’t get the recognition that he deserves and that’s why I would love to nominate him for this flag. His brother, my grandpa, served in the Navy and was on the ship through the atomic bombing, firsthand. My Uncle Jim had to watch his brother pass away from brain cancer but that didn’t stop him from loving his country and dedicating the rest of his life to it! I would feel so honored if my Uncle would be considered for this award! He is the best and even at 90 years old, he is dedicated to this country and to his family. Thank you."
Thank you, James, for your honorable service, sacrifice, and dedication.
