Throughout our Flags for Heroes campaign, we've had the privilege of learning about the incredible veterans who have served our country with courage and dedication. These stories, filled with sacrifice and resilience, serve as a powerful reminder of the true meaning of patriotism.
We’re honored to share the story of Eric Newton, a true patriot whose dedication to his country has spanned decades.
Story submitted by Lisa Holmes: "Eric Newton served in Vietnam at the age of 17. He was wounded in action with the legendary Black Horse Regiment- 11 th Armored Cavalry. After the war he got out and became a home builder. At the age of 55 he re-joined the Blackhorse in Iraq. Having served in two theaters of war in the same unit. The man continues to give back to veterans and serves as the Senior Vice Commander of the Military Order of the Purple Heart in Dallas Fort Worth Chapter 1513 that served 520 Purple Heart Recipients in North Texas. Texas is home to the largest living population of Purple Heart recipients."
